Abstract

The vast majority of domestic researchers acknowledge that the construction complex is iden-tified by territorial and sectoral characteristics, man-agement strategies. At the same time, due attention is not paid to geostrategic management in the con-struction industry as the basis of modern effective leadership by general and subcontracting construc-tion organizations. The author has set an objective to reveal geostrategic management from the point of view of using it as a conceptual base and a special tool aimed at improving the efficiency of construc-tion activities. The achievement of this goal is the disclosure of geostrategic management as an eco-nomic concept; substantiation of its necessity and demand in the modern construction industry; sys-tematization of the distinguis-hing features of geo-strategic management from those strategic in the construction industry; identification of problems that impede the development of the geostra-tegy of management in the domestic construction industry. The key modern trends and features of geostrate-gic management of the construction sector, re-flected in the global, regional and subregional spa-tial promotion, the presence of not only competi-tors, interdependent partners, but also a unified, modifiable positioning system, division of labor are presented. The novelty of the article is due to one of the first attempts to analyze geostrategic man-agement as an effective mechanism for the sustain-able functioning and improvement of Russian con-struction companies. The composition of this mechanism involves new forms of managerial func-tions, the dominance of a scenario-based approach to management, an immediate managerial response to changes in the environment (as opposed to a strict adherence to the previous strategy), fo-cusing on improving the organization’s manage-ment quality in the course of construction work, management focus on the principles of theory sin-gle economic space. The measures proposed by the author are aimed at increasing the level of geo-strategic management in construction, expanding the capabilities of construction enterprises in the new conditions of economic activity.
