Abstract

The focus of this article is teaching Russian language in secondary school, viewed through the lens of four demographic indicators – gender, age, professional experience, intensity of teaching Russian language. For this purpose, the results obtained from a large-scale survey conducted among Russian language teachers were analyzed, to which 238 people responded (36 from the city of Sofia and 202 from other cities and villages of the country). The analysis of the results shows: a tendency towards aging of Russian language teachers, a high concentration of language teaching in the city, the choice of the language mainly as a second foreign language. Based on these results, conclusions are drawn, some of which seem disturbing.
