Abstract

The article deals with the structural specificity of the concept BEING by the example of the “mermaid” image as a mythological character. The aim of the paper is a multidisciplinary study of the sub-concepts LIFE and DEATH in the concept BEING through the mermaid image in the English-language musical poetry. The paper presents a structural-holistic analysis of the conceptual substitutes of the psychoanalytic notions EROS and THANATOS (Sigmund Freud) represented in the sub-concepts LIFE and DEATH. In conclusion, the article offers new opportunities for the study of artistic concepts.
