Abstract

This study analyzes trends in Arab literature that address the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in mass media. The research relies on a meta-analysis, or secondary analysis, and incorporates both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study examines all Arab media studies conducted in this field between 2020 and 2024, which totals 66 studies. One important finding identified by this study is print and electronic journalism were the most frequently examined areas, which was followed by digital media. Studies investigating the current and future uses of artificial intelligence technologies in mass media, as well as the effects and problems arising from their integration, were the most prevalent. Meanwhile, other studies explored the employment and future of AI applications in mass media institutions from the perspective of elites.
