Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of innovation activity of small and medium- sized businesses, a critical assessment is given in the context of priority areas of management of their innovation activities. Within the framework of the study, the innovative activity of small and medium-sized businesses is considered as a key driver of the development of economic systems at the micro level. The trends of its change in the country as a whole are revealed, and it is also shown that small business entities in industry are significantly inferior to their average level. It is noted that in modern conditions, the development of state support provided to small and medium-sized businesses, integration and cooperation with large businesses and the academic sector, as well as the acceleration of the transition to digitalization, it is important to consider as priority areas for improving the management of their innovation activities.
