Abstract

The public street furnitures that easily accessible have made continuous and meaningful improvement with increased interest in design throughout society and development of design capabilities. None the less, The reason why public facility design included the complicated stake-holders and diverse needs for the unspecified users, It is also a reality that supply-centered street furnitures is being developed that has not considered a variety of users. In this study, the actual public street furniture design development cases were used to propose practical ways for the development of public street furniture by presenting design perspectives and practical measures to change the design direction. To this end, the shape, CMF, and user-centered design perspectives were overridden and key problems were identified and the actual solution for such a problem were solved through the use of cases of public facilities depending on the installation environment. Through this process of study background, research objectives and methods, First, in terms of shape , it is needed to seek not a direct description but refined expression of the form and it is necessary to avoid excessive symbolism that hinders the proper functioning of facilities. Second, it is important to plan for colors and materials that take into consideration the overall and partial structural characteristics of the installation environment and the facility, not the application of colors and materials as visual elements. Last, consideration should be given to a wide range of users, not just ordinary citizens, who use public facilities directly. Based on these findings, it was concluded that the most important approach was a composite approach from the perspective of the design that was typically repeated shape, CMF, and user-centered.
