Abstract

In this paper, we propose an active file mode change mechanism that actively changes the file mode of the files in the directory to online or local mode according to the activation ratio of the client directory using cloud storage. When the directory activation ratio rises above a certain threshold, the proposed active file mode change mechanism selects online mode files and changes them to the local mode. When the directory activation ratio falls below the threshold, the proposed mechanism selects the local mode files and changes them to the online mode. In order to analyze the performance considering the trade-off relationship between local storage usage and file access latency of local and online mode files, we define file mode performance index and analyzes the performance of the active file mode change mechanism through experiments. As a result of the experiment, the proposed mechanism improved performance compared to the existing manual file mode change method.
