Abstract

The structural peculiarities of carbon nanotubes synthesized at the same experimental setup by means of catalytic chemical vapor deposition using two different carbon precursors and FeCl3 catalyst are compared. Methane and acetylene have been used as carbon precursors. FeCl3 has been deposited onto a substrate by means of drying of a droplet of its water solution. The influence of temperature and pressure variations on synthesis process has been investigated. The samples obtained have been studied by means of scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The nonlinear relation between synthesis temperature and defectiveness of synthesized carbon nanotubes has been found. The influence of carbon precursor type on morphology of the synthesized samples of carbon nanotubes has been demonstrated.
