Abstract

Summary. The history of creation (1938) and formation of sanitary aviation service in the Republic of Dagestan is presented. The problems faced by the pioneers and enthusiasts of “winged ambulance” are considered. The priority of this branch in the structure of emergency medicine of Dagestan, a significant part (25.5 thousand km2) of which territory is occupied by mountains, is noted. It is concluded that the urgency of the problem of further development of air ambulance in Dagestan is conditioned by its priority and efficiency in the structure of emergency medicine, as it allows to promptly provide patients from hard-to-reach areas with differentiated specialized medical care in multidisciplinary hospitals.
