Abstract

The paper provides a comprehensive analysis of lexical neologisms in Côte d'Ivoire French. The article presents the research results, provides illustrative material, statistical data acquired when working on Ivorian French neologisms dictionary. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher for the first time shows quantitative distribution of neologism types in Côte d'Ivoire French, identifies the types of borrowings in this territorial variant. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals the factors influencing French language development in the region where autochthonous languages dominate and English language remains less important in spite of globalization.
