Abstract

The paper presents information about the cooperation of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technologies (VAST) and the V.I. Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute FEB RAS (РOI FEB RAS) in the field of marine research and study of the South China Sea. Long-term joint research includes a large complex of hydrological, hydrophysical, hydrochemical, geological, geophysical, gas geochemical work, covering not only the waters of Vietnam, but also islands in the Gulf of Tonkin, and areas of thermal springs along the Red River rift valley in the territory of Vietnam. To develop Russian-Vietnamese research, a joint Russian-Vietnamese laboratory for marine sciences and technologies was created in 2010.
