Abstract

Specific features of the Uchinsk reservoir discharge during the diatomic algae spring blooming period in years with different temperature, hydro/chemical and hydro/dynamic conditions have been investigated. It has been shown that the blooming terms depend on water temperature in the reservoir while wind velocity and direction cause variations of algae amount in the discharge. Total level of the diatomic algae development depends on hydro/chemical conditions, in particular, on quantity of various forms of nitrogen and mineral phosphorous. The revealed regularities of the diatomic algae spring development peak formation enable to make a short-term forecast of quality for water being supplied for urban needs.
