Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the perception of university sports teams currently operated by universities and the effects of them on the selection of colleges and the sense of belonging of students. The subjects of this study were 440 students from four universities in Seoul who run elite sports teams. The main conclusions of the study are as follows. First, 340 students(85.0%) knew whether their colleges run sports teams or not, and 60 students(15.0%) did not know the operation.,129 students (32.3%) watched the games between the college sports teams and 271 students (67.8%) who had never watched them. The positive reason for the operation of the university sports team was that 111 people (27.8%) were the most likely to form a sense of belonging due to the sports team, and 154 people (38.5%) were the most likely to affect the selection (admission) of the school due to the university sports team. Second, as a result of analyzing the difference in identification with the recognition of the university sports team according to the recognition of the sports team, the identification of the university sports team according to the recognition of the sports team, the recognition of the university sports team according to the experience of watching the sports team, and the identification of the university sports team according to the experience of watching the sports team. Therefore, the operation of the university sports team has affected the perception and identification of the university sports team. Schools that run college sports teams are judged to have a sense of unity among students and to instill a sense of affection and pride in the school through their alma mater sports team.
