Abstract

The article is an attempt to describe the socio-philosophical and organizational aspects of the model of an educational system for sustainable development. Critical assessment of the existing education system is given it is shown that the modern education is aimed at a model of unsustainable development. Education and training at school is proposed as a platform for sustainable life styles in order to implement sustainable development strategies. It is proposed to transfer to a new system of education: education for sustainable development. The methods and concepts of environmental education are considered as appropriate to sustainable development paradigm. The methodological basis of this study is the dialectical method as the confrontation of traditional education system and the requirements of the transition to a sustainable model of education. Scientific methods are used, such as abstraction, idealization, comparison, modeling, analysis, synthesis, etc. The solution of the investigated problem is based on the statements and conclusions on the studied subjects contained in the writings of modern Russian and foreign authors, researchers and philosophers. It is concluded there is need and possibility to establish a system of education aimed at sustainable innovative development of a society. The conception of school (Eco-schools), and a system (model of environmental education, the introduction of a variety of disciplines, etc.), are proposed as well as gradual steps of transfer of the education to sustainable development.
