Abstract

The article is devoted to the development trends of the modern Russian historiography on the evolution of the Russian military industry in 1914-1917. The paper analyses the views of both the supporters of the modernization, believing that industry was able to ensure the country’s success in the First World War, and their opponents, who believe that the Russian archaic economy caused military-industrial collapse. The author comes to the conclusion that the discussion continues, being an incentive for subsequent scientific research, that it should be continued, first of all, at the regional level.
