Abstract

The article is devoted to the assessment of the fuel and energy complex of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The main operating objects of heat and electric energy generation are analyzed: thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, the objects planned forto be put into operation in the future. It is determined that the main sources of energy and heat in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region are natural gas and nuclear fuel. The North-Western Federal District, including the Leningrad Region, is one of the leading regions of Russia in terms of peat reserves, currently not in demand. The expediency of the operation of small and medium-sized power facilities based on local fuel, the use of local fuel as a backup is substantiated.
