Abstract

The demand for spatial openness in the library viewing area is an example of the change from the preservation places to the user places in the public library, and it is necessary to look for directions and direction in the space planning such as the shelf and the seating arrangement to positively accommodate it. The purpose of this study is to present basic data on the planning of the public library interior space by examining the space composition in the open reading space, the furniture arrangement of the book shelf, It has meaning and purpose. The following conclusions are drawn from the above study. First, the area of the public library reading room in Busan consisted of three methods, which were a combination of the reading area and the shelf area, the reading lounge and the shelf area, the reading area and the reading lounge area. Second, the way of layout and arranging of the shelves was varied by the way. It is necessary to arrange the shelves in a sequential manner considering the order of placement of the shelves and the order of movement. Third, the shelf space of public library in Busan area should be more than 1,100mm. In addition, the lighting method was divided into three types, orthogonal type, parallel type, and point type. Fourth, the composition of open shelf library is set up through the arrangement of the shelf and the reading space. Also, according to the arrangement, there were 6 types of shelves and reading spaces.
