Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that affect the depression and quality of life of families living with dementia patients. Methods This study used data from the 2018 Community Health Survey, and the subjects of the study were 3,052 family members living with patients diagnosed with dementia by doctors. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to find out the factors affecting the depression of families living with dementia patients, and regression analysis was conducted to find out the factors affecting the quality of life. Results Factors affecting the depression of families living with dementia patients were middle school graduation (OR=1.98), elementary school graduation (OR=1.76), economic activity (OR=1.70), subjective health status (OR=1.58), and subjective stress (OR=4.68). In addition, factors that significantly affect the quality of life of families living with dementia patients were subjective health status, age, physical activity, economic activity, depression, spouse presence, drinking, subjective stress, education level, and household monthly income. Conclusions It is expected that families living with dementia patients will be encouraged to participate in economic activities, and various mental health management programs will be developed for families of dementia patients.
