Abstract

The article considers the problem of the English borrowings in the French language in comparison with Russian. The paper aims to identify differences in the usage of Anglicisms in the analysed languages. The research material includes Anglicisms presented on the French Academy’s website. Scientific originality of the study involves a comparative analysis of Anglicisms on the basis of the Reverso Context translation service. The findings indicate that the choice in favour of the Anglicism is often motivated by the fact that the native word is deprived of connotations and emotional nuances that the borrowed word possesses.
