Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of academic adaptation of the Central Asian students. The authors accentuate the fact that the Russian-language competence of the Central Asian students is limited to the sphere of everyday communication, it is not sufficient for studying at the Russian higher school; so, training students from the near abroad is associated with difficulties. It is emphasized that the sufficient Russian-language competence is a prerequisite for successful academic adaptation of this contingent of learners; therefore, purposeful systematic work is required to develop and improve the Central Asian students’ Russian-language skills.
