Abstract

The article examines the legal status of a new body of Executive power of Russia — Federal Service of National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation. The author describes the historical background and traditions of establishment of law enforcement bodies. The structure and functions of the National Guard are outlined. Within its responsibilities given to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation the powers of this service are analyzed. An important addition to the functions of the Internal Troops of created National Guard will be a function of investigative activity. Internal troops were not the subject of investigative activity, as there was no law to regulate these powers.
