Abstract

The author presents an analysis of the metaphysics of Archbishop Nicanor as an expression of his theistic worldview. The attempts of the Orthodox philosopher to justify the possibility of combining empiricism and rationalism, faith and knowledge in search of truth have been investigated. It shows the importance that Archbishop Nicanor attached to the project of building a "positive philosophy" in which a compromise between religion and science would be possible.
