Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the status and potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which has a special geo-economic significance in the current geopolitical situation. Today, the energy crisis in the European Union as a result of the sanctions imposed on Russia, and the negative consequences of Kazakhstan’s limited transit and logistics capabilities underscore the importance of this corridor. There is reason to believe that the efforts of Kazakhstan’s leadership to diversify the ways of foreign economic relations and further steps by the European Union to find new opportunities for energy supply will contribute to increasing the potential of this corridor for the benefit of both sides. Moreover, the European Union fully supports Kazakhstan’s policy on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, noting its compliance with its new «Global Gateway» program.
