Abstract

The article examines the basic semantic features of the EGOISM concept identified by the contextual analysis of statements about egoism/egoist and by the quantitative calculation method; the author reveals the correlations with social (profession, gender, marital status) and individual (traits of character, psychical peculiarities, scale of talent) features. The findings lead to the conclusion about the evaluative dominant in the concept structure; it is shown that the representants of the EGOIST/EGOISM concept have no clear descriptive features. The ambivalence of the evaluation marker at the periphery of the concept is emphasized.
