Abstract

The paper aims to compare the semantics of impersonal sentences with the subject of state in the dative case in the German and Russian languages. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that it reveals the similarities and differences in the semantics of impersonal constructions with the subject of state in the dative case in the German and Russian languages. As a result, it has been identified that certain differences can be seen in case of using nouns in the syntactic function of predicate, as well as transferring modal meanings: in the German language, the meaning of obligation cannot be delivered through impersonal constructions with the subject in the dative case.
