Abstract

Within the framework of this study, the author has tried to characterize the current state of crime associated with external discrediting of internal affairs bodies. The results of the survey conducted by the author of 181 citizens and 292 police officers from 59 regions of the Russian Federation, the data reflected in the analytical materials of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and statistical reporting data from the Form no. 456 “Protection”, formed by the Main Information and Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in their totality allowed to make original conclusions about crime trends associated with external discrediting of the police. The author’s judgments are made regarding the increased victimization of IAB employees who are on duty, the reasons for their passive position in protecting their business reputation, problems arising in the activities of subjects of protection of IAB from discrediting, prospects for the development of this area of activity.
