Abstract

The article provides information on the frequency of detection of fungi of the genus Candida in HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients with chronic sinusitis. Information on the frequency of verification of this microorganism made it possible to calculate the probability of a fungal etiology of chronic inflammatory pathology of the paranasal sinuses and to substantiate the need for the use of antifungal agents in the treatment of chronic sinusitis in immunocompromised individuals. To assess the likelihood of fungal etiology, data on the clinical stage of immunodeficiency and the level of CD4 lymphocytes were used. As a result of the study, the indications for the appointment of antifungal agents in the treatment of chronic sinusitis in HIV-positive patients were determined, taking into account the clinical stage of HIV infection and the number of CD4 lymphocytes.
