Abstract

This paper adopts a methodology that compares and analyzes how energy is used in Korean creative dances through Hyun-ja Kim and ‘Lived (生) Dance’ and Ki-in Kim''s ‘Ki(氣) Dance’ in the early 90s. Through Kim Hyun-ja''s representative works < One Day (Haru) > and Kim Ki-in''s < Dom >, the key dance in Korean creative dance takes a contrasting form of reduction and expansion in the way of expressing movement, but It was possible to find something in common. ‘Ki(Energy) dance’ shown in the Korean creative dance world is not a cold dance of the form of moderation of Western minimal dances, but a foot of the artist''s spirit that conveys the aesthetics of ‘Rhythmic vitality (氣韻生動)’ to communicate with the audience and unite naturally as part of self-reflection and training.
