Abstract

The paper considers specificity of figurative means in schwanks created by the Russian Germans as bearers of a special dialectal worldview. The study is based on theoretical provision of interrelation of the notions “language” and “worldview”. The author describes different types of worldviews, provides examples of the most frequent figurative means used in schwanks. Special attention is paid to identifying similarities and differences between the Russian Germans’ dialectal worldview and traditional Russian and German worldviews. Scientific originality of the study involves analysing schwank figurative means as the linguistic means that exert significant influence on formation and development of the Russian Germans’ world perception. The conclusion is made that the Russian Germans’ dialect and mentality, preserving their unique features, manifest a unique ability to co-exist in harmony with the foreign culture.
