Abstract

The study aims to shed light on the issue of historicism in the reflection of the new reality in Bashkir prose in the first half of the XX century. Scientific originality of the study lies in identifying national literary epic traditions and innovations, genre and stylistic features of the first Bashkir novels. The attained results have shown that the progression from small forms to large ones, the emergence of the novel as a synthesis of genres and styles were a natural process in the development of Bashkir literature during this period. The experience accumulated in short stories and novellas, in stage works made it possible to turn to depiction of reality in large epic forms. The creation of such novels as A. Tagirov’s “Soldiers”, “Red Guards”, “Red Army Men”, D. Yulty’s “Blood”, I. Nasyri’s “Kudei”, G. Khayri’s “Turn”, H. Davletshina’s “Irgiz” completed one of the stages in the formation of modern literary genres on the national basis.
