Abstract

This paper deals with the architectural decorations of pediments of religious and public places of the ancient Bosporus. The analysis of architectural details, sculptures and funeral monuments proves that pediment sculpture existed. We identified the main types of decorations of pediments and their prototypes in the architecture of the ancient Greece. The article highlights a symbolic meaning of this type of plastic art.
