Abstract

The study aims to determine the musical and theoretical features of I. Stravinsky’s neoclassical creative work. The author identified causes and prerequisites for Stravinsky’s work in the neoclassical direction, analysed the conceptual features of neoclassicism in art. Scientific novelty lies in determining features of neoclassicism as a way of deforming the stylistic material of previous eras in Stravinsky’s creative work. As a result, it has been ascertained that the intrinsic features of neoclassicism in Stravinsky’s creative work are the use of forms and genres of music written by composers of the XVII-XIX centuries, rejection of homophonic texture in favour of polyphonic writing, orientation to melodism and linearity, rigid rhythmic organisation, plot mythologisation in theatrical genres.
