Abstract
In this paper, propagation constant estimation techniques in the frequency domain for monitoring the insulation status of the cable have been proposed. The attenuation constant and phase constant are calculated by comparing the energy and location of the incident signal applied to the cable and the reflected signal from the endpoint. The performance of the technique is verified by comparing the estimated propagation constant based on the reflectometry with the measured propagation constant.
