Abstract

The articleconsiders Russia’s foreign policy towards the United States in 1991–1996. The desire of the Russian leadership to achieve the level of strategic partnership with the United States is shown in the conditions of the formation of a new Russian statehood and the weakening of thecountry’s international positions. Theconclusion ismade about thecollapse ofMoscow’s unjustified hopes and illusions for equalcooperation with Washington.
