Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the possibility of using multifactor analysis – the method of the main components for measuring and evaluating innovations in the field of small business as an object of strategic management on the example of the subjects of the Central Federal District. The algorithm of application of the principal component’s method is considered, consisting of the following stages: the formation of the empirical base of the study (includes the definition of the list and calculation of the initial variables, their normalization); calculation of the principal components and justification of the number of their choice; assessment of the adequacy of the factor model; interpretation of the main components. The main components obtained, in fact, are integrated indicators that characterize the level of innovation development, are determined on the basis of available statistical data and can be used both for comparative analysis of innovations in the field of small business in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and for the purpose of improving strategic management. At the same time, the method of main components is considered as a tool for strategic innovation management in the field of small business
