Abstract

At the present stage of human development, urbanization has acquired a global character. More than half of the world's population lives in cities and other urbanized areas. It should be recognized that cities, on the one hand, offer wide opportunities for human development, but on the other hand, they create new and multiply existing threats and dangers. In this connection, ensuring security in a broad sense is one of the most important areas of activity of state authorities and local self-government. This is due to the fact that a safe city is more attractive, competitive, comfortable for people to live in, and therefore more capable of progress. In connection with the globalization of urbanization, today there is a need for a comprehensive solution to problems affecting the development of municipalities, with the interaction of local governments of cities and villages within the state, as well as the development of international relations of local governments of different states. In this regard, it can be argued that just as urbanization influences the provision of security in cities, so security as the goal of the activities of public authorities affects the development of cities.
