Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the features of deverbal nicknames functioning in the dialects of the Nizhny Novgorod Oka-Volga-Sura interfluve. The paper discusses the features of nicknames formed from verb forms, including phrases, combinations of words and sentences containing them. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that deverbal nicknames have not been sufficiently studied, there are no works devoted to their consideration, analysis and identification of their characteristic features. Special attention is paid to the role of the imperative mood in nickname naming. The most presented types of naming are revealed, the ways of formation of deverbal nickname naming units are analysed. As a result, the features peculiar to deverbal nicknames in the dialects of the Nizhny Novgorod Oka-Volga-Sura interfluve have been identified, their characterising and instructive roles have been determined.
