Abstract

Samples of the ore and gravity concentrate from the Algaminskoe zirconium occurrence were studied. Concentrations of rare-earth elements (REE), rare and noble metals were determined. REE content in the ore is 200–300 g/t, with 400 g/t in the gravity concentrate. REE distribution diagrams clearly show Ce depletion and the predominance of intermediate lanthanides and yttrium. The ore and the concentrate contain elevated Hf, W, U, Ta, Au, and Pt, most of which are present in the form of isomorphic admixture in baddeleytte and zircon. Their source is the ancient weathering crust of peralkalic rocks of the Ingili massif. The suggestion has been made that there should be a buried weathering crust enriched in valuable components.
