Abstract

The structure and mechanical properties of a bimetallic compound of two 12X18H10T steels made by selective laser melting (SLM) have been studied. Due to the proposed technological method, the transition in a bimetallic sample between two steels is realized with a clear boundary without a smooth gradient change in chemical composition. The resulting connection shows the high quality of the formation of the interface. The type and number of structural defects inherent in the synthesized material, in the compound do not differ from the samples of each of the steels produced by the SLM separately. The mechanical properties of the bimetallic compound show that the values are not worse than ones of less durable steel 12Х18Н10Т as compared to steel 09Х17Н. The tested approaches to the creation of bimetallic compounds can be used to make products with functional gradient characteristics, using the additive technology methods.
