Abstract

The article examines the measures of the leadership of the state and military administration bodies to improve the system of military-patriotic education of cadets of higher military educational establishments based on the military history of Ukraine. The basic conditions for improving military-patriotic education, in particular the armed and informational aggression of the Russian Federation, the establishment of state institutions, units and public organizations for carrying out scientific research in the field of military history, the organization of systematic military-historical work, and the restoration of national and historical heritage are revealed in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.The forms and the means of military-patriotic education, which underwent changes in the period 2014-2019, are analyzed. During this period the process of assignment of new honorary titles to military units, higher military educational institutions was ordered, the commemoration of Soviet holidays related to the history of the Red and Soviet armies was cancelled, new military and professional holidays were established in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in the higher military educational institutions. New military rituals (military greetings) and symbols (military uniforms, awards, symbolism) were developed and implemented on the basis of national military traditions, honouring military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who died for freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
