Abstract

By the material of “The Dictionary of the Russian Folk Dialects” the article considers the folk nominations of children’s games. It is stated that the great quantity of the lexical group “nominations of children’s games” in the Russian dialects is determined by synonymic parallels and diversity of folk ludic culture. Conclusions are drawn that lexical, phonetic, word-formative variation of the dialect nominations of games is conditioned by their belonging to different historical-dialectal zones and to the colloquial register of existence. Also, the analysis of the words in the group has shown: the folk nominations of children’s games are characterized by bright figurativeness, metaphoricity, semantic motivation (by actions, characters, objects, attributes of the game); in dialect speech, they are limited in the formation of grammatical forms and syntagmatic relations.
