Abstract

The paper aims to reveal specificity of translating the English, Chinese and Russian higher education terms taking into account the cognitive aspect. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors examine the cognitive aspect of translation of higher education terms designating scientific positions, scientific degrees and academic ranks in three unrelated languages (English, Chinese and Russian) for the first time. The research findings are as follows: the authors reveal conceptual content of the English, Chinese and Russian higher education terms, identify peculiarities of their translation taking into account essential characteristics of a nominated object, compile a trilingual glossary of higher education terminology.
