Abstract

The study is devoted to the peculiarities of the methods of teaching translation in the conditions of the need to overcome interference. The purpose of the article is to consider the notion of interference in the context of teaching the course “Professionally Oriented Translation” and to develop methodological recommendations on the ways to overcome interference for the formation of students’ translation competencies. Particular emphasis is placed on the difficulties caused by interference that arises inevitably when any two languages come in contact; the cognitive basis of interference is analysed; the conclusion is made about the replacement of the perceptual standards of one language with the perceptual standards of the other language. On the basis of empirical data, the methods and techniques of overcoming each type of interference while teaching translation in a professional field at a non-linguistic university are generalized.
