Abstract
The article examines the specifics of translation activity in the context of globalization, rapid development of information and communication technologies, economic, cultural and professional contacts. Much attention is paid to the special issues of scientific and technical texts translation based on project documentation, which seems relevant due to its widespread use by international companies operating in Russia and, especially, in the Far East. The author identifies the major difficulties of translating technical specifications, addresses the translation techniques that a translator can use in cases where there is no dictionary correspondence, or it cannot be used according to the context conditions.
