Abstract

The problems to operate the automatic coupling device are considered, taking into account significant changes in the operating conditions of freight cars. The operation experience of freight car automatic coupling devices of domestic railways and the United States of America is analyzed; common problematic issues are identified. Approaches to the study of modes of longitudinal-dynamic impact of cars are defined, a simplified model is given. There is a need to change the design of the automatic coupling device of freight cars by using two sequentially arranged blocks with working elements, as well as improving the properties of the working material of absorbing devices, especially in operating conditions over a wide temperature range.
