Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the visual and graphic appearance of the literary text in contemporary literature. Basing on the analysis of novels in French, the author identifies the main graphical tools, analyzes their functions and justifies the significance of their use for performing the single semantic task of the text. Both the possibility of a font-based variation and the planar organization of the polycode text are considered, as well as the significant, deliberate absence of any generally accepted punctuation-graphic means in terms of producing a certain effect on the readers.
