Abstract
The article analyses the architectural techniques, constructive peculiarities, layout variants, ornamental motifs of architectural monuments of the Armenian Chalcedonian monasteries Akhtala, Gndevank, Kobayr, Khuchap. The analysis has allowed the author to identify the peculiarities of Lori-Gugark architectural school of Northern Armenia: using basalt as building material, mainly smoothly cut stones, moderate decoration, the Georgian decoration motifs conditioned by historical and political context.
