Abstract

Steppe Altai in the VI century BC, at the moment there are practically no works in which the analysis of its panoply in the Scythian-Saka time would be carried out. Thus, the study is very relevant and fills a gap in the military history of the region. The article deals with defensive and offensive weapons, indicating the presence in the army Kamensk culture of medium riders. Visual sources are also involved, allowing more reliably reconstruct the weapons and equipment of this kind of troops. In General, throughout the existence of the Kamensk culture from VI to I centuries BC there was a constant search for the most optimal forms of armor. The main changes concerned the method of booking and the cut of the shells, as well as the material from which they were made. Actively improved and weapons: there were not only new types, but also species. In turn, statistical data indicate that during the period under review the role of these contingents in the army of carriers of Kamensk culture grew. This fact indicates, in our opinion, their effectiveness on the battlefield at that time.

Стоит также отметить, что в развитии комплекса вооружения этих племен можно выделить три этапа, которые различаются между собой по видовому и типовому составу используемого оружия и доспеха: ранний — VI–V вв. Видимо, уже на первом этапе развития каменской культуры и относится к VI–V вв.
