Abstract

Goal. Because of significant spread in the modern world of coronavirus infection of a man of a new type (COVID-19), caused by a virus SARS-CoV-2, to provide professional analysis of the nature and biological characteristics of coronaviruses of animals, their evolutionary and phylogenetic relationships with coronaviruses of a man, as well as to outline prospects for the use of animal coronaviruses in the creation of a system of countermeasures against pandemic COVID-19. Methods. The generalized literature data and the review of the achievements of scientists of NSC «IECVM» in the control of coronavirus infections in cattle and poultry are submitted for consideration. Results. Classification and phylogenetic relationships in the family Coronaviridae are given, as well as the review of own and literature data on the genetic and antigenic structure of coronavirus cattle. They characterized the direction of the creation of means of control of coronavirus infection of cattle (development of vaccines and diagnosticums). Circulation is established of the virus of infectious bronchitis of chickens «D 388 (QX)», «Italy 02», «4/91», «M41» in poultry farms of Ukraine. The immunity against infectious bronchitis of chickens is 93–100%. In the process of developing modern vaccine preparation for prevention of infectious diseases in poultry (Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis of chickens and syndrome of decreased egg production) it is established that formaldehyde and ethylenimine completely inactivate the infectivity of the pathogens of the infections, while antigenic activity remains at a high level. The data are given of scientific researches in the ecology and biology of coronavirus infectious bronchitis of chickens, as well as in the study of the ultrastructure of the virus. Conclusions. Knowledge of biological properties and features of mammalian and poultry coronaviruses can be successfully applied in the tests on the effectiveness of control agents (medicines and disinfectants), for preventive actions (creation of «candidate» of vaccines), and control over Covid-19 infection.

Introduction

Socio-economic and cultural-educational revival of Ukraine requires comprehensive coverage of all stages of its historical development, first of all, it concerns the leading sector of the economy - agriculture. Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of NAAS and NASU and 16 other academies of the world, First Vice-President of the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after Lenin (VASGNIL) (1978-1982), Chairman of the Presidium of the Southern Department of VASGNIL – Deputy Chairman of the State Agrarian Industry of the USSR (1987-1990), the first President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (1990-1996) Oleksiy Oleksiyovych Sozinov made a significant contribution in the formation of scientific support of agriculture in Ukraine in the second half of 20th – early 21st century He laid the foundations for the development of cell biology, cytogenetics, grain quality genetics and the genetic basis of selection, immunogenetics, seed science, embryogenetics, molecular biology, and the use of mathematical methods in biology. Generalization of his creative research on the development of the basics of genetics, selection, plant biotechnology and agroecology, coverage of his contribution to the development of agricultural research, popularization of the achievements of agricultural science in Ukraine
