Abstract
The study aims to analyse and identify characteristic features in the work of the emergency authorities and army units on employment of armoured trains in fortifying Ryazan defence area and guaranteeing successful offensive of the Red Army during the Battle of Moscow. The research is novel in that new archival documents are introduced into scientific use. As a result of the study, it was proved that employment of armoured trains was instrumental in organising cohesive defence of Ryazan combat site.
